Nobody puts baby in the corner. At least not THAT corner!

Quick post!

Love this invitation via simple blueprint. It's just my style - sweet, funny, sarcastic, and stylish. (Pa-ha! I wish.)

I'm trippin' balls over this awesome 7-11 Bento Box delivery service they have going on in Japan. If eating well was this convenient in the states we'd be a lot healthier and happier!

Oh, the novelty. via hello sandwich.

Check out these science cookies!!!

I want I want I want!

I might make some of these babies this weekend:

That's all I have time for! Have a good weekend!

I'm gonna steer clear, burn up in your atmosphere

Sometimes I forget everyone has a story to tell. It's just that I keep hearing the same stories over and over. I'm especially tired of my own.

On that note (kind of) I stumbled on this crazy One Day Poem exhibition. This is one of those crazy-cool ideas I wish I'd thought of myself but can't even conceive how this was created. I guess it's like a wacky sundial at a basic level, eh?

Next, I'd really like to check out this gorgeous waterfall in the Porcupine Mountains State Park, right here in Michigan. It's a 10-second exposure photo, but I forget we have that kind of nature around here, namely in the UP. Funny how we have colloquialisms unique to the region, eh? Most people out-of-region would have no idea what "the UP" is referring to, and it's rare for other people to say they're "going up north." "Yoopers" is a good one, too. Wtf, Michigan? I still love you, even in this "Michigan weather" half the nation seems to be experiencing at the moment.

I would loooove to check that sweet-ass waterfall out, but alas, it is waaaay up there (my location is depicted somewhere south of the bottom border... 11-hour drive!):

I am loving both these photos from nostalgie de la boue.

This first one is just so passionate and insane. Sort of like how I imagine being rescued by Bruce Campbell ca. The Evil Dead would be like.

What is even HAPPENING in that photo? You tell me.

This one looks like it would be happening somewhere outside a party in Mad Men (except for the Ray-Bans) because they're both so classic-looking. And smoking. Is he holding a switch-blade or a candle-lighter? Doesn't matter.

Niiiiice.

Lastly, I WANTS I WANTS I WANTS I WANTS I WANTS!!!

Valentines with lyrics from lewd R&B songs! Anyone quoting the Notorious B.I.G. is a-okay with me. via notcot.

That's all for today, kids.

May you have an interesting evening!

Baby, you've got to be more demanding - I will be your VALENTINE

SPECIAL POST!

Alright, so I'm sure all of us have been forced to be aware that Valentine's day is this weekend.

It first took my notice when I heard a radio ad along the lines of: "whether you get her the _______ or our 7-pound box of 250 pc. chocolates..."

I don't know what sort of hint I'm supposed to take from getting seven pounds worth of chocolate. "You're too skinny?" "You need to chill the hell out?" "I'm trying too hard, dump me?"

Just kidding, folks. Getting gifts on Valentine's is nice and all, but I see it more as a day to feel privileged and maybe go out to a nice dinner.

If you're in a relationship, that is. Otherwise, you end up looking like this guy:

via notcot.

He's celebrating "Single's Awareness Day."

Well, whatever! While most of the recommended V-day gifts I've seen around the blogosphere have made me puke in my mouth a little, there are several things I've found that are pretty baller and I wouldn't mind getting myself!

How about some myth-inspired postcards depicting tales of undying love?

Or how about one of these silk-screened modern world maps?

Gorgeous!

Those framed European country prints would look awesome ANYWHERE.

This print is just quirky and unique enough to make me smile and not cringe.

Or if you'd like for things to be a little more interesting, you can introduce some Porn Confetti featured over on notcot!

Also, this is pretty cool. There's a guy (David Foox) that x-rays his chest and makes anatomically-correct illustrated hearts.

There's a more detailed post about it here.

Then of course, I wouldn't mind receiving anything by Natalie Perkins.

That illustration really might be one of my favorite things ever.

Lastly, I've decided to be crafty and I'm going to make a valentine this year, y'all!

I might live photo-blog the painstaking process of making a meaningful (hopefully contest-winning - $100 bucks? yes please!), non-cliche, artistically-respectable work of art.

I know you're friggin' stoked to see how it turns out.

Prepare for froot beam transmission

First up...

AOL (or should I say Aol.) partook in some rebranding a la Wolff Olins. Seriously, AOL? Seriously anyone?

via brand new.

Next is Put This On: Episode 1 - Denim. I saw this somewhere way back and just happened across it again on vimeo. The people of Put This On aim to teach men how to dress like grown-ups. If they get the funding, they'll make a six-episode series, apparently. Check it out and learn about jeans!

This photographer, Gabriel Jeffrey, is kind of blowing my mind. via notcot.

Too much, too much

Hello all!

I've been feeling very blah lately, but here's today's post.

I saw this over on design verb. So crazy and hazardous!

Also, again from design verb, this just BLEW MY MIND:

This made me laugh a bit. via notcot.

Suck on THAT!

This is also cool, IMO. By Robert Samuel Hanson.

Lend me some suga' - I am your neighbor!

Hello all!

I'm super stoked today because I got some link love over on Love.Obsess.Inspire. So to any of you who came to visit from over yonder, a big hello!

Today, I've been particularly inspired by spaces. These ones in particular:

Via design crisis, there's this little farmhouse in the Catskills. Check out the rest of the space by following the link, but this room had my mind reeling. I love it and am put off by it at the same time. I love the bright-yellow spaces on the walls. I love that stove. I love that there's a bed crammed in the corner, and I love that chair, even though there's something medieval-torture-chambery about it to me. Something I don't like? Those mirrors. They make me shiver. I don't know why. I suppose I don't like reflective surfaces in calming spaces, maybe.

This and the next photo (from desire to inspire) I think I'm drawn to because of the stairs. I'm fascinated by stairways, particularly odd, modern stairways. I love the lines in this photograph. I love that there's a bookshelf, and I like that I'm peeking into a completely different space full of life up above.

Here again - stairs, books, and wood. Did I mention I'm crazy about wood? It's probably due to my being brought up with a mom obsessed with antiques and an appreciation for expertly-crafted Amish furniture. That chair is blowing my mind and poking at my deepest nightmares, but I love it. I love the weird symmetry of the stairs, too. See what I mean? Wowza.

Oh, so check this out.

MORE STAIRS! But not just any stairs, EMO-RAINBOW stairs via notcot! They have the best stuff over in Europe, I swear. I wish I knew more German so I could decipher which emotion belonged to which color, etc. Speaking of inspiring stairs I want to climb, have you seen those awesome Swedish piano stairs? I mentioned them in this post a bit ago.

Lastly, what do ya'll think about this? I like Imogen Heap somewhat, but I have mixed feelings about it. Makes you view the lyrics and purpose of the song differently, eh? Tell me what you think, por favor!

Once in awhile, when it's good - It'll feel like it should

Late post today, y'all. So late, in fact, that it's tomorrow already!

Here's what's up, foo:

Gecko Stickers. The raddest collection of wall decals I've seen yet. If I had my own place and some spare change, I would be ALL OVER THIS.

Next, this is just badass.

Check out these cool mixed media prints!

Oh, why not?

Life can be a total d-bag sometimes, you know?

Anyway, here's what's up for today:

HELLO KITTY 35th ANNIVERSARY PROMO VIDEO!!!

It's cute, adorable, and satisfyingly Japanese. (via notcot)

Next is the portfolio of Michael Sanderson. He's created illustrations/advertisements for The New Yorker, Calvin Klein, and Marc Jacobs. Check out his portfolio! I think he's made some pretty unique stuff. (via designworklife)

*MICHAEL JACKSON SPOILER ALERT*

Ever wonder how he managed to lean at a gravitationally impossible 45-degree angle while dancing? Here's the youtube video where he performs it live ... it happens at 4:28 if you're don't want to sit through the whole video, even though it's awesome!

Check out how he did it over at boingboing.

That's all for today. Enjoy!

Talk about genius

I discovered a BBC tv show today titled "Design for Life." It's the same setup as Project Runway or Design Star, only it's headed by world-renown, insanely proflific (and often criticized) designer Phillipe Starck. I definitely recommend heading over to his webpage and checking out all of his designs.

Below is the first episode of "Design for Life." Episodes are about an hour long, but just hearing Starck's philosophies, witnessing the egos, and watching those poor design students run around like chickens with their heads cut off entertains me to no end. I think it's brilliant, and it had me researching design schools in the UK. Maybe a future in product design has begun to read its head, who knows?

Next is a music video from Swedish indie pop band, The Sound of Arrows. This video is bizarre as all heck, but it's beautiful to look at.

Well, those should entertain you for at least 3 hours.
