I'm a million different people from one day to the next

Ok, since I slacked yesterday, I'm going to share something with you that I discovered like 5 minutes ago and it's BLOWING MY MINDZ!!!

It's the illustration of Natalie Perkins. I am so wildly inspired right now, it's insane. Too bad it will vanquish in 15 minutes when I go into one of my moods.

Here are some of my absolute faves from her portfolio.
*edit: I had some of my faves, but the links broke :(, so here's my fave! And you ABSOLUTELY MUST GO TO HER PORTFOLIO!*

Is your mind blown? I think I got lady-wood about... 4 times. Yeah, 4. (via design work life)

Next up is the illustration/animation/brilliance of James Gulliver Hancock. Check out this sick video.

Also, get on over to his illustrations page.

via decor8, kinda.

Wow, there was so much brilliance in this post, I don't think I'll ever have to do this again.

Laterrr!!!

*edit - I just made an improvement to the blog. Now you can see the whole box when viewing youtube vids! (easy fix, dunno why I didn't fix it before...)

Once in awhile, when it's good - It'll feel like it should

Late post today, y'all. So late, in fact, that it's tomorrow already!

Here's what's up, foo:

Gecko Stickers. The raddest collection of wall decals I've seen yet. If I had my own place and some spare change, I would be ALL OVER THIS.

Next, this is just badass.

Check out these cool mixed media prints!

Whoa-oa-oa

Listening to some 80's jams. "(I Just) Died In Your Arms" by Cutting Crew? Yes, please.

So, it's Monday, and let me tell you, I'm usually semi-okay with that. Today is just too dreary and cold to motivate me to want to do ANYTHING. Seriously, today is bummin' me out big-time.

So it's a good thing I've had some ideas saved up for posts because the interwubs just aren't inspiring me today like they should.

First up is Digital Wallpaper by Strukt, a design agency out of Vienna. They put together a cool little video displaying their most recent installation, which kind of boggles my mind.

Next I'm going to feature artist Lindsey Warren. Her work seems to focus on presenting urban landscapes/scenes from strange perspectives. I love the colors and the cleanness of her paintings. I could definitely see myself with a mural of this style in one of my future homes. Too cool. You absolutely must check out her portfolio. (via designworklife.)

Last, via Dezeen, it's a crazy lighting exhibition at the 2009 London Design Festival. Oh, how I wish I were there - holy cow - you have no idea. Anyway, follow the link and check out the awesomeness.

Good love is on the way

Some good stuff today, the first being...

Hooray! It's the Jeweled Ambrosia giveaway via Simple Blueprint!

Head on over to Simple Blueprint and see how to win a $25 gift certificate to Jeweled Ambrosia's Etsy shop! Oh my, such great jewelry to choose from!

Next is this hella cool Andrew Bird poster I found via grain edit. $20! Love the color scheme, love the illustrative style - it's just awesome. Check out the other posters at that one website, too. I predict an awesome poster roundup one of these days soon, time permitted.

Last, this awesome ... I dunno what to call it, really. You'll have to check it out - I found it fascinating. A website experience titled "Pintando un Cancion" (painting a song).\

Too many corners in my mind

Today I'd like to feature an artist by the name of Manoli Lopez. She's from Barcelona, her art is amazing, and she has pretty good taste in music, from what I gathered on her blog.

I need to find a way to get a giant print of this for my place. Seriously, brilliant.

The other thing I'd like to showcase today is an amazing video by animator/illustrator Javier Cuello. The title translates to "the house in small cubes" - and you'll see the significance of the title. The video is so cute and charming, yet deeply touching and quite sad. It's also a great metaphor for life and the trials we face as humans. I encourage you to watch the whole thing (it runs about 12 minutes, but I enjoyed every moment.)

Step Back

Very tired today, so I'm glad it's basically a 3-day week. Hooray for Labor Day and no obligations on Fridays!

First up is a Good Wives and Warriors mural in Melbourne, Australia.
Apparently this stunning piece took 14 hours to complete. Sooo cool!

More pics via The Design Files.

I also discovered Personas, a project over at - of course - MIT. It's a way to see how much information there is about someone/thing on the internet, and what all that information has to say about them. Mine wasn't very interesting, but I was surprised to see how much information there was out there about my professors, fellow bloggers, etc. It's also very mesmerizing to watch. Try it out!

That's it for now. Later!

Don't worry about it

...easier said than done, eh?

Anyway, a sort-of random splattering of postings for today, but interesting as always!

The first is this insane wallpaper by James Jean for Prada store locations. I wish I could make something like that, much less create enough of anything to cover a 17' x 200' space. Wowza! Imagine the commission on that one! It's gorgeous. Don't forget to scroll right for full effect!

Secondly, I found this way-cool article, "Old-School Portraits See Resurgence Online" (courtesy CNN) about a guy who makes tons of money painting people portraits to use as Facebook photos or online identities. It's interesting to think about how we're portraying ourselves and who sees it, and how they may see it differently. As mentioned in the article, we create identities for ourselves based on what we do online, whether we're conscious of it or not. Where do we hold accounts? Where do we comment? How active of members are we? The list goes on. It would be interesting to have my online identity analyzed, though I doubt anything they come up with would be much of a surprise.

And finally, as a reminder to [mostly] myself and the few of you out there who may read this:

Mondaze

Monday: You can imagine how I feel about this entire situation.

Anyway, I have returned after the weekend, ready to post some more stuff for ya'll. I'm also brainstorming some new concepts for posts, so get ready.

First post today is some DIY/Interior Design inspiration. I smiled when I saw this:

I don't know how many people have that many pieces of furniture lying around (my mom would, but our tiny home is like a flea market...) but if someone did, I would recommend doing this. It would be crazy functional - shelving, drawers, and it would free up a lot of space. Rad as hell.

I am totally crazy about this illustration by Erika Somogyi:

Awwww...

That's it for now. Maybe more tonight, who knows?
