Weeks and weeks

Well folks,

I'm finally updating this dang thing. I know it LOOKS like I haven't updated in over a year, but I actually updated not-too-long ago, but deleted it because the post was a bit unprofessional. Now, it doesn't matter (as much) because I am FINALLY gainfully
employed! LET'S HAVE A PARTY.

You KNOW Elvis knew how to throw a good party.

I'd have a party on these glorious purple stairs:

Nevermind the danger. I'd tumble down and do a dance on that BALLER coffee table.

via the lovely Erin on design crisis.

I'd serve appetizers, like maybe some southwest eggrolls or some JELL-O shots on this table:

You'd eat off it, right? Me, too. I think I'd sleep on it.

I'd be sure to invite David Bowie-Ben Franklin, because what would a party be without lightning bolts and C-Notes?

Lame, that's what. Also via design-milk.

Then, after the party, we'd have to have another, more chill party. Because nobody would want it to end.

Everybody loves sandwiches. (Me especially.) via nostalgie de la boue.

That's all, y'all!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND...

What's taking you so long?

Quick post today, ya'll - I've got some real important stuff to do [homework].

Awesome news - I just might be visiting NYC over Spring Break! I know I have very few avid readers, but if ANYONE has a recommendation as to where I should visit / eat at / see / pay loads of money to gain access to, please leave a comment!

I do know that I am DEFINITELY going to try to check this place out:

K! Pizzacone in Midtown! I cannot resist the novelty!!! Their website is awful/not functional ... I'm judging them already. via a cup of jo.

Next is this bizarre Lego table from abgc Architecture and Design. Click the link and read their purpose/rationale - interesting, though I don't quite get it.

via share some candy.

Next, check out some wildly brilliant web design out of happy cog studios. I haven't made many posts including web design, but web designer depot released a very comprehensive review of the re-design for the Philadelphia tourism website, http://www.visitphilly.com, and it truly is amazing. Props, Happy Cog!

And I will leave you with this gorgeous photo of James Franco, because it's been a while since I posted any eye candy.

Affection, the gifted architect, is making a draft and beautiful design

*Sigh*

Okay, people.

Earlier today my friend showed me this video Logorama. It's nominated for an Oscar in the "Best Short Film" category.

Next up, I just really like this photo of Imogen Heap. She is a strange lady, but I dig it. A while back I posted her cover of MJ's "Thriller." Check it out at let me know what you think. DEFINITELY a different spin on things. Made me think about the song differently.

Next, I am wild 'n' crazy about this love font I saw over at Whorange.

And I'm thinking I'm going to use this as advice a bit more from now on:

I'm gonna steer clear, burn up in your atmosphere

Sometimes I forget everyone has a story to tell. It's just that I keep hearing the same stories over and over. I'm especially tired of my own.

On that note (kind of) I stumbled on this crazy One Day Poem exhibition. This is one of those crazy-cool ideas I wish I'd thought of myself but can't even conceive how this was created. I guess it's like a wacky sundial at a basic level, eh?

Next, I'd really like to check out this gorgeous waterfall in the Porcupine Mountains State Park, right here in Michigan. It's a 10-second exposure photo, but I forget we have that kind of nature around here, namely in the UP. Funny how we have colloquialisms unique to the region, eh? Most people out-of-region would have no idea what "the UP" is referring to, and it's rare for other people to say they're "going up north." "Yoopers" is a good one, too. Wtf, Michigan? I still love you, even in this "Michigan weather" half the nation seems to be experiencing at the moment.

I would loooove to check that sweet-ass waterfall out, but alas, it is waaaay up there (my location is depicted somewhere south of the bottom border... 11-hour drive!):

I am loving both these photos from nostalgie de la boue.

This first one is just so passionate and insane. Sort of like how I imagine being rescued by Bruce Campbell ca. The Evil Dead would be like.

What is even HAPPENING in that photo? You tell me.

This one looks like it would be happening somewhere outside a party in Mad Men (except for the Ray-Bans) because they're both so classic-looking. And smoking. Is he holding a switch-blade or a candle-lighter? Doesn't matter.

Niiiiice.

Lastly, I WANTS I WANTS I WANTS I WANTS I WANTS!!!

Valentines with lyrics from lewd R&B songs! Anyone quoting the Notorious B.I.G. is a-okay with me. via notcot.

That's all for today, kids.

May you have an interesting evening!

Beauty's where you find it - not just where you bump and grind it

Still sick today, but hoping for a good day against some odds.

Ok, I'm just going to put up a bunch of photos from Vogue shoots.

First set via moodboard. This month's issue of UK Vogue.

next set also via moodboard, only from here and here. Shoot from US Vogue, October 2003.

Look at those purple shoes!

And I'm pretty sure this chick is fighting the power. Whatever that may be. Love those tights!

Very Edward Scissorhands - esque, no?

This girl is saying "oh no you aren't even gonna!" (precursor to "oh no you di'int!"). I LOVE what they did with her makeup and veil-hat thing.

Awkward.

Ok. That's enough Vogue.

I know several of my professors who would flip their shit over this video and instigate at least two hours of discussion...

Really though, it's almost too cool for words.

Augmented (hyper)Reality: Domestic Robocop from Keiichi Matsuda on Vimeo.

Finally, I am IN LOVE with this image. I would marry it if I could. Not a fan of the mostly naked chick, though. I feel that portion is unnecessary.

A trail of ruby red and diamond white hits her like a sunrise

So I am really digging this car. With some paint and electrical tape my '89 Tracer could be looking as hawt as this love-machine right hurr:

via design llama.

Also from the llama, I just came across these ...special... meat paintings by Victoria Reynolds.

I am particularly creeped out by this one, entitled "Uteral Bonnet."

For more disturbing imagery, follow the provided link.

Ok, so you should TOTALLY check this out.

Pentagram Design has this nifty "What Type Are You?" quiz.

Have you heard about the Flat Earth Society?

Well, here's a cool video detailing what they're getting at...

I am not your rolling wheel, I am the highway

Friday posssstttt!!!

Come on, ya'll - I know I was so good this week with the posting, but let's get the readership out of the negatives, plz.

First up, this was just featured on design for mankind, but I am quite impressed with the work of Christina Vantzou. She does video editing, illustrations, print design, products design - the whole nine yards! This video is pretty cool:

How rad is this image? via nostalgie de la boue.

Glitz and Gibson - can't get much better than that! Makes me want to pick up my guitar and rock out!

Also, LOOOVING this from friends of type:

But I love everything from friends of type... so nothing new there.

Have a FANTASTIC weekend, people! I hope mine lives up to my pre-meditated expectations. And if it's not exciting, may it at least be productive!

Turkey Day!

Hello all!

Just a quick post because I'm feeling jolly and read to go home for T-Giv.

First up, I thought this was hilarious. Via Learn Something Every Day

Ok, but who do the turkeys belong to?

Love this little bunny.

Your body is a wonderland (I'll use my hands)

Oh, John Mayer. What do you guys think of the new album?

I'll just put up some inspiring photography today - how about that?

This is just hilarious, thanks Eric!

A common mistake in life's race is to sprint

Hello all [one of you],

Just a random smattering today, since time is limited.

First, via design is mine, is one of ten images of inspiration from days of old.

That one caught my eye particularly, but there's a great collection if you follow the link.

Next is this incredibly intense photo I found on nostalgie de la boue. I could stare at it for hours and invent a thousand stories in my head about what could precede and succeed this moment.

Next is some insanely rockin' interior design via desire to inspire. All I can say is I would have no complaints if my place looked like this.

Check out the rest of the space and more by following the link.

I'm off to class to watch "Bringing Up Baby." Oh yeah, I like me some Cary Grant.
