Turn my stupid question marks into simple candy canes

Hiiiiiii!

First I'd like to apologize for neglecting y'all while I was on Spring Break. I tried to update, I swear, but I was on Chrome and it's a bitch to upload pics with it. Try it sometime. Anyway, I tried for like 5 seconds and gave up. Boooo.

First up is this crazy video from Pleix films. They have some truly bizarre videos on there, but this was my favorite. E-Baby and Pleix Blog were some other cool ones. via design crisis.

I am all about incorporating tree motifs into interior design - especially something this cool! Things like this house in Austin, TX, however, I do not want:




















Erin over at design crisis had the
pleasurehorror of touring this house last November.

"There is a TREE in the middle of the house — in the kitchen, for goodness sake, which is somehow even more offensive... Whoever built this patchwork piece of shit house built it out of plywood, cardboard and duct tape. The roof leaked all around the hole where the tree is, and a foundation was laid over the tree roots. Not good planning.

Plus it looks like sandworms from Beetlejuice are attacking the exterior of the home, and nobody wants that."

Hopefully some DIY-crazed lumberjack happens across that house and helps get its shit together. His darling, yet no-nonsense wife can redecorate and make it shabby-chic! Dunno what they're gonna do about the poltergeists, though. Maybe they will be very religious people and can perform an exorcism!

Puttin' bodies in motion cuz I got the notion

Hi everybody!

How was your weekend? No complaints here, other than the snow-dump we received overnight. I know, I know, "quit complaining about the weather - you live in Michigan!" Well I think as a Michigander it's my natural-born right to complain as much as I want. I'm kind of stuck here.

First up is some art by Ryan Begglen. I came across this thanks to a friend. Some of these had me cracking up.

Next up, I am really digging this chick Heather Patterson, who I spotted over on design for mankind. It's got wonky watercolors, geometry, sketchy drawing, triangles - everything I like! How about that?

Too cool, right? I liiiiike.

Ok, so this chair is hawt. Maybe the sexiest chair ever (in an obvious way...)

Lastly, this video is pretty cool, particularly the music. via share some candy.

Come on, ya'll - I know I was so good this week with the posting, but let's get the readership out of the negatives, plz.

First up, this was just featured on design for mankind, but I am quite impressed with the work of Christina Vantzou. She does video editing, illustrations, print design, products design - the whole nine yards! This video is pretty cool:

Lines, lines, everywhere there's lines - blockin' up the scenery, breakin' my mind

Some really cool stuff up today, y'all. Today's theme is LINES.

First up is something from design for mankind a couple weeks back, a video titled "This is For Reels." Check out the website. Pretty mindblowing, IMO.



Next, via boing boing, is this crazy-cool map from National Geographic, detailing 50 years of space exploration. It shows the trajectories of our favorite spacecraft, their orbits, points of interest, and current locations. This is totally sweet!

Next is the amazing talent of Yulia Brodskaya, a ... paper-crafter, I guess? She recently did some work for Neiman Marcus' Christmas Book. You have to check out her portfolio (follow the link on her name), there is some siiiick work in there.











































Totally amazing, right?

Finally is this really cool coffee cup art from Boy Obsolete, via design work life.

I wish I had the creativity and time to do stuff like this!

Okay, then

Since I neglected to update yesterday, I bet you're expecting something awesome, hmm? Well, whatever. I guess we'll have to see.

First up is Lulu's. They have some seriously awesome clothing, and a fair amount to offer in their "sale" section, which I'm a fan of. Haven't bought anything from there, but I've definitely ogled a fair amount of their merchandise. Design for Mankind is currently running a giveaway for a $100 credit to the store, so check it ouuuutt! I know what I'd spring for if I won - an awesome pair of boots and a dress! The problem is deciding which ones...

Next up is this hilariously awesome card case. I like to think I'm a "skillionaire."

Next is the work of Nikki Farquharson. I totally dig the colors, style, and mixed media-ness of her work. She's so smart in her arrangement of the media, too. Here are some of my favorites:
